Got Proof! A Genealogy Journey Through The Use Of Documentation And Display Boards

Got Proof!
 A Genealogy Journey Through the
Use of Documentation
On Saturday, Sept 24, 2011, I was honored to be the guest speaker at the 11th Anniversary of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS), Metro-Atlanta chapter monthly meeting held at the National Archives Records Administration in Atlanta, Ga.  My presentation focused on “Telling the story of my 4th Generation Great-Grandparents and how I traced my ancestry to an American Revolutionary war soldier.”
My presentation included several display boards showing the various ancestral lines I am researching and a powerpoint presentation called,  “Got Proof! A Genealogy Journey Through the Use of Documentation." My research goes back to my fourth generation great-grandparents -- a former slave (double click) name Agnes,  who gained her freedom on December 16, 1779, and her French consort, an American Revolutionary War Patriot named Mathieu Devaux dit Platilla. The display boards showed the various generations and documents that helped make me eligible for induction into the National Society Sons of the American Revolution.
Later, I was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from AAGHS for my presentation. Here are a few pictures from the event.
